PTO Meeting September 10, 2025

PTO Updates

AGENDA

  • Teachers and paras are making an effort to have at least two staff representatives at every meeting

Update from Mrs. Hart:

  • school year is off to a great start
  • Biggest hiccup is the change to the start time
  • Beginning of year about routines, getting to know each other as a community
  • Whole school meetings getting a shake up! Vertical teams across the grades (on early release days)
  • Ayers Elementary is going to be an official chapter of Best Buddies, 4th grade students will have the opportunity to volunteer

Questions for Mrs. Hart:

  •  Theme days will not relate to the whole school meetings, so Mrs. Hart is open to either PTO or staff suggesting. Mrs. Campbell will take the pulse of the staff as to who wants to choose the days, Sarah will include in PTO newsletter, Kyle will put on Facebook
  • Curriculum Night will be on September 25th, final schedule will be sent out to families this weekend, anticipate 5:30-7:30pm with set times for different grade levels and an interlude when specialists are available. Less presentation heavy and more “a day in the life of your student.” PTO will have a table with swag and sign-up for various volunteer opportunities.
  •  Road construction: Kernwood/Carver/Gregg St. project completed by this weekend. Do not enter sign on Kernwood Heights has been taken down. 7am-3pm National Grid construction project. Last year had promised not to start until 8am – wasn’t honored last year or now.
  •  New Gym Teacher: Mr. B comes from Centerville (there for 14 years) in Special Education.
  •  Tomorrow will be Dr. Cushing’s second visit to Ayers

Events:

  • Tabling Festival of Trees until next year
  • Upcoming events are: Ryal Side Day and Momball in September, Pictures in the Park, Fall Frolic, and Trunk-or-Treat in October.

Enrichments:

  • Discussion around connecting enrichments more directly to the standards taught and catering to smaller sections of grade levels
  • Planetarium is coming in October – staff feedback is that it was good for older kids but not great for older kids, plus it’s the same presentation that students have already seen

    • The wacky science show
    • A seat for Rosa
    • Zap! Electricity
